Rabbit On My Wheel

Label:  Open Road Recordings

Released: 2012

Rabbit On My Wheel definitely kicks it up a notch or six from Ridley's last record. "In my heart," he says, sounding for the world like a character from one of his own songs, "I rock." So does Rabbit On My Wheel...

Recorded in Vancouver's Factory Studios and Nashcroft Productions in Ashcroft, BC with returning producer John MacArthur Ellis (Jane Siberry, Dustin Bentall, Jeremy Fisher), the album brings together the same crack musical team Ridley hit the road with after releasing Buckles and Boots.

Buckles and Boots

Label:  Open Road Recordings

Distributor: Universal Music Canada

Released: 2010

On his first release on Open Road Recordings, Buckles and Boots, Ridley Bent serves up tall tales, sweet rhymes, and love songs, with a dash of mayhem and murder on the side. Populated by a cast of modern day desperadoes, lovesick drifters, and small town heroes, Buckles and Boots, is full to the brim with stories you just can't take your ears off.

"Hick-hop" was a term echoed by more than a few reviewers in describing this debut release by Ridley Bent in their attempt to categorize his rootsy storytelling over busy backing tracks; but, much like the earlier attempt of Greg Garing to fuse bluegrass and trip-hop, Blam ultimately fails to create a new genre, instead being an uneven exploration of sonic backgrounds for his compelling narratives.
